Affirming LGBTQ+ Youth 201 Series
This training will go in-depth on how to be a strong ally in supporting LGBTQ+ youth in a variety of settings. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the cumulative effects of microaggressions on LGBTQ+ youth. In addition, the training will increase participant comfort with using gender-neutral pronouns and speaking up when they hear anti-LGBTQ language among students, parents, and colleagues. Ultimately, participants will leave with resources and tools to support their allyship and continued support of LGBTQ+ youth.
We recommend that participants come with a basic understanding of LGBTQ+ terminology, as this will not be discussed during the training. To review terminology prior to this in-person training, we recommend registering and watching SHIFT NC’s LGBTQ+ Affirming Terminology 101 webinar.
